Giving Thanks,
The cornucopia is the typical symbol for thanksgiving. It represents abundance for the gifts we have been given. This year I’m taking stock of all of the little gifts I’m grateful for from white scrubby sponges to the sweet scent of cinnamon in our Thieves’ Cleaner. Recently I received a letter from one of my clients expressing her gratitude for the work we do in cleaning her home. I wanted to share it with you because I’m so grateful to hear from my clients about the work we do. At Sunrise Cleaning Service we value our employees so much and giving praise where praise is due is a simple but important gift.
Dear Tracy,
Imagine my surprise today, when my 13 year old son came running up the stairs to thank me for the simple Halloween goodie bag left on his bed. I was surprised, because I did not leave him the treat bag. After some phone calls and a little snooping, we realized that the goodies—including homemade sugar cookies, bubbles and a few pieces of candy was from Liz, our trusted and amazing Sunrise Cleaner. It was so thoughtful of her to do that one little extra for my son. He was totally blown away and very grateful. It was a true gift.
Her thoughtfulness led me to reflect on some of the other wonderful gifts that Liz has given us throughout the year that I am grateful for and I wanted to share them with you. We’ve been under construction as you know and during the entire time Liz has paid extra attention to the areas filled with construction dust. She left me a little white scrubber that I can use in my kitchen between visits (I love that! She told me how to get my own too!). She saw the pet stain remover out and cleaned up the spots on my carpets. But mostly she puts my house back in order each time she visits. It’s the small things that make the difference for us—those little gifts of detail, hard work and caring and though her time with us is a mere 3-4 hours, it makes the two weeks between visits like heaven.
So I’d like to say thank you to Liz and to Sunrise Cleaning Service for the hard work and effort put into making my home a comfortable, clean, healthy place to live. It’s those little things that I call gifts that count and continue to add up each week.

As we move into the months of November and December and things get busier and busier due to the holidays, I hope you will take time to reflect on the little gifts that you are thankful for. We are blessed in our lives with simple abundance and each day is filled with something to be thankful for.
In the spirit of giving thanks, here’s a quick non-toxic way to clean up that residue left on your holiday roasting pan. I know you’ll be giving thanks when you see the sparkling clean pan!
The key to clean pans lies in your pantry: baking soda! If residue won’t lift easily after you’ve soaked the pan in warm soapy water, pour the liquid out and sprinkle the pan generously with baking soda. Next mix together 1/3 cup vinegar with one cup hot water, and pour it into the pan. The pesky buildup will be easily removed by the fizzy solution.
