Where Do I Begin? What are the alternatives to Toxic Chemicals?

Safe alternatives to Toxic household cleaners are available. You just need to know what to look for or take the plunge and make them yourself. You can easily make a variety of cleaning products from things you may just have at home. I have formulas for several products that I will be sharing on my blog including:

  • Furniture Polish
  • Rug Deodorizer
  • Mothballs
  • Oven Cleaner
  • Drain Cleaner
  • Glass Cleaner
  • Toilet Bowl, Tub and Tile Cleaner

If you just don’t have the time to make your own formulations there are some products out there on the store shelves or available online that I can recommend.

Thieves Household Cleaner is an all-natural ingredient formulation to distribute the power of therapeutic-grade essential oils in your home while killing germs and bacteria.
Cleaning powders with Borax make a great cleanser. Bon Ami is biodegradable, nontoxic and hypoallergenic. Bon Ami also sells a Liquid Cleanser has the same gentle effectiveness of the original powder.

Visit your local health food store for more non-toxic household cleaning product alternatives. There are loads of brands out there, some say “non-toxic”, others say “green” or use other terminology. But the fact is you need to read the label and see what these products are made of. Take the time to scrutinize the labels and see if you can recognize the list of ingredients. Are there some chemicals that you don’t recognize?  Wondering if they are safe or toxic? You should be a little education goes a long way. It can help you make an informed choice when purchasing cleaning products. In my next blog post I’ll be sharing some information on how you can educate yourself on what’s in your household cleaning products—it’s easy and very enlightening.
Sunrise Cleaning Service also hosts workshops designed to educate the public on safe, alternative cleaning products.  If you would like to host a workshop at your home or place of business please contact me. I’d love to share my knowledge with you!
